It is hard to believe it is October already! I just made a giant batch of homemade granola and abatch of pumpkin puree - getting ready for pumpkin loaf season! This week in class we will begin our breakfast cookery classes. With grade 7's making Omelettes and Pancakes and grade 8's making Frittatas and Pancakes with a homemade apple topping (it is a fall season favorite with apples from Willow View Farms - shop local) Came across this interesting articles on eggs that I thought I would share. Since we are making pancakes made with flour and flour gets a lot of negative press these days. I wanted to let you know we work with Anita's Organics - Unbleached White Flour - it is from Chilliwack and is organic and made from ancient grains therefore causing less gluten sensitivity that regular flour! For those with Celiac here is an article on the best gluten free flours to use. I am super excited to have you back in my classroom - it has been along time. Spend a few minutes checking things our and welcome to my website.
I hope you have enjoyed this beautiful sunny weather and enjoyed this Easter /Passover/Vaisakhi weekend. I thought I would share a dessert I made with my son for our Easter dinner. It is a Basque Burnt Cheesecake and it was delicious. I have included a link to the recipe if any of you are interested, there is also a video of how they make it in the link. It is a pretty easy recipe and technique is easy too but - a lot of cream, eggs and cream cheese needed!!
These crackers from a couple of cooks look yummy!
https://www.acouplecooks.com/homemade-crackers/ I hope you are all well. I will be keeping the website updated as we move to virtual learning. Check out those recipes and do some baking or cooking for your family! I have been working on my sourdough bread making skills and I must admit they are coming along nicely! Can't wait to share some with you in person. In the meantime email me photos or videos of your culinary creations!
